begins the hot summers of Arkansas and the hot-from-the-kiln works of
our next exhibit, From the Fire: The Pottery of Maura Miller.
Maura is hard at work making masterful pieces of clay for her show that
opens June 13 during downtown's 2nd Friday Art Night from
5-8pm. This exhibit ends July 5th.
Escape
the heat during our next 2nd Friday Art Night event from 5-8pm on
July 11, when many of our artists will be in the gallery. Stop by

instead to see Intervals of Time and Space: The Paintings of LaDawna
Whiteside. LaDawna's show opens during 2nd Friday Art Night

Halloween is just around the corner, and October's 2nd Friday Art

and long-term artists is finally having a show! Join us Friday,
October 10 from 5-8pm for the opening of 'Eggs'travagant
'Eggs'cessories: A Grade A 'Eggs'hibition by Lynn Sudderth. This
exhibit ends November 8.

hard at work all-year long making the best in contemporary art and craft

Bravo to painter LaDawna Whiteside who was recently admitted to the Art
Institute of Boston in Cambridge!
Bravo to painter Selma F. Blackburn! In February, her painting, "Queen
II," was juried into the National Watercolor Society (NWS) All-Member
Show in California. Already a signature member of NWS, and a frequent
exhibitor through juried exhibitions, this will be Selma's first time to
attend an NWS opening. In addition, her painting "Cozy Three" was juried
into the Mid-Southern Watercolorists Society's spring exhibition that
will take place at Historic Arkansas Museum, May - July 2008.
Congratulations to woodworker Doug Stowe who was featured in an article
in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette entitled "Carving Out a Niche."
Stowe's work was also recently featured on the cover of Fine
Woodworking magazine.
Congratulations to Mick Hutchison whose work was shown in a recent
interview with Senator Hillary Clinton and Katie Couric on the CBS
Evening News!
We're thrilled that former President Clinton stopped by ArtSpace while
he was in Little Rock. Our artists really appreciate his support of
their work and the gallery.
Congratulations to Bill Garrison whose painting, "Perry County Creek,"
was selected as one of the top one hundred finalists in the Art Renewal
Center’s International 2007 ARC Salon™. Bill's work was judged and
selected to be among the best out of the 1600 plus entries received from
around the world.
Congratulations to Selma F. Blackburn whose painting, “Chicka, Chicka,
Boom-Boom” was included in the Art Across Arkansas installations for the
2007-2008 school year at Harrison High School. Selma also had two
paintings accepted in the Mid-Southern Watercolorists’ Fall Exhibition
currently on display at the River Valley Arts Center in Russellville,
Arkansas.

Smoky Hill River Festival in Salinas, Kansas.
Congratulations to Jim Mayfield whose photograph, "Maestro's Muses" was
selected for inclusion in the 50th Annual Delta Exhibition at the

Congratulations to Kendall Stallings whose work was featured in the June
2007 issue of Southwest Art magazine.
Congratulations to Selma F. Blackburn who won the Jackie Fish Memorial
Award for her painting, "Everybody's Different," in the 2007
Mid-Southern Watercolorists' 37th Annual Exhibition.
Congratulations to Dr. Bob Miller who was commissioned to do a pen and
ink drawing of one of the historic houses in Searcy, Arkansas. The
drawing will be incorporated into a booklet being produced by the Arts
Council and Historical Society to be used by second grade teachers in
the the Searcy Public Schools.

interview our very own Selma F. Blackburn for an upcoming feature on
Arkansas artists.

Congratulations to Winston Taylor who was commissioned to create a
relief sculpture for the newly constructed sanctuary of First United
Methodist Church in Russellville, Arkansas. It is made of stoneware clay
depicting a scene of Christ teaching by the sea of Galilee. It is 8 feet
tall and two inches in diameter.
Congratulations to Ed Pennebaker and Winston Taylor whose work was
featured in the December 2006 issue of The Ozarks Mountaineer. We're
also thrilled they profiled our gallery as a great place to buy holiday
gifts by local artists!

owner of ArtSpace has a Master of Arts degree from AU and the story profiled several graduates around the country, highlighting the national

ArtSpace was proud to host the reception A Novel Affair in the

Congratulations to painter Les Waite who created the poster for the 2006
Women’s SEC Basketball Tournament held in Little Rock in March. Seven
thousand five hundred posters were passed out at the event, and the
original 36x48 painting was donated to Alltel Arena where it is hanging
in the main lobby.
