Birch Tree Communities
River Market ArtSpace is proud to announce its partnership with Birch Tree Communities’ Expressive Arts Department, displaying artwork by member artists that will be for sale through the gallery.

Birch Tree Communities, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization serving 300 adults state-wide with serious and persistent mental illness. Birch Tree offers full treatment including therapy, housing, medical assistance, day treatment and case management. Eight years ago, Birch added a new dynamic approach to day treatment, the Expressive Arts Department. Expressive Arts was created to encourage individual self-expression and to use the arts as a tool for personal growth. Today, Expressive Arts has four full-time staff teaching painting, sculpting, poetry, photography, dance, music, acting, and filmmaking. Over the last six years members’ artistic triumphs have been shared with the community through art shows, talent shows, film premieres and other artistic venues.

Said Luke Kramer, Expressive Arts Specialist at Birch Tree, “We strive to bring the artistic experience to each individual we serve and, in turn, give them a venue to share their ideas to inspire us all; we are thrilled our member artists will have their work featured in a professional gallery setting.”
