Biography
I grew up an only child in an old, haunted house in Fayetteville,
Arkansas. As a young girl I sang songs to the moon, played with my
imaginary friends, and meditated on top of cars, all the while
collecting thousands of rocks. I dreamed of becoming a bail bondsman or
an astronomer. My early years were spent over-achieving in school,
trying to keep up with the neighborhood boys, and enjoying summers at my
grandparents farm. It was during this time that my foundation was laid -
roots of imagination, compassion for animals, and pride in my Arkansas
heritage grew strong. I attended college at Western State in Gunnison,
Colorado, and from there I graduated Summa Cum Laude, with a BFA in
jewelry and sculpture. Since then, I have been honing my skills in my
little house on a hill.
Artist Statement
My favorite artists are my superheroes. I want to live in their land,
the magical in-between world that conquers time and words. I make
jewelry because it makes me. It is my official language. My work is my
ultimate adventure. Nature and irony are my muse.
All my pieces begin as metal sheet and/or wire. I use hammers, stamps
that my uncle Bubba made, a torch, a hand saw, tons of pliers, and this
and that to do what I do. All gemstones are top quality. |
